SRAGEN – Students from the Taxation Accounting program at the Vocational School of Diponegoro University (UNDIP), participating in the Community Service Program (KKN), conducted a financial education initiative titled “Financial Leadership: Cultivating a Spirit of Smart and Independent Leadership Through Early Financial Literacy” for elementary school students in Sambungmacan Village.
Initiated by Vivian Aneila M.A., a Taxation Accounting student at the UNDIP Vocational School, the program aims to foster financially savvy character traits and instill wise money management habits from an early age.
Using an interactive and engaging approach, the activity began with a presentation on the fundamentals of financial understanding. Students were encouraged to participate in active discussions and solve simple case studies to practice distinguishing between “needs” and “wants” in their daily lives.
Beyond theoretical instruction, the event featured an interactive quiz that was met with enthusiasm by all the students. Through this quiz, students practiced making simple financial decisions independently and learned how to prioritize the use of their daily pocket money.
To ensure the program’s lasting impact, the KKN team also provided educational posters offering guidance on saving and managing pocket money. These posters were designed to be both informative and visually appealing, intended for display within the school environment as a daily visual reminder for the students.
“Through this Financial Leadership program, we hope students will not only get into the habit of setting money aside for savings but also grow into a generation that is wise, independent, and possesses the leadership qualities needed to make sound financial decisions in the future,” said Vivian.
The school administration welcomed the KKN program, noting that it provided practical insights essential for the children’s daily lives.
